What: Jazz Band Music Performance Assessment (MPA)
When: February 5
-Arrive at the Fairgrounds at 8:45am
-We perform at 10:00am and will be done at 10:45 am
Where: State Fairgrounds at the Charles M. Davis Special Events Center –Gate 3
(Please park at the MLK Blvd gate which is in front of gate three and
we will meet in the parking lot to warm-up)
Uniform: Black band T-shirt, Black dress pants, Black Socks and Black Shoes
Transportation: If your student needs a ride to or from the fair, Please send a note so we can arrange a ride. We can meet at the school around 8:00am if your student needs a ride.
Chaperone: I have 6 free tickets for chaperone. If you are interested in helping or carpooling, please e-mail me at chris.dunn@sdhc.k12.fl.us
We will need to meet in the Gate 3 parking lot and warm up. We will enter the fair at 9:20 to watch some of the groups. We will warm-up at 9:40am and perform on stage at 10:00am. We will then wait for are results and should be done by 10:45am. If your student wants to stay at the fair with another parent, I will need a note before we enter the fairgrounds. Your students have been working really hard and are going to be great!!!

Coleman Band Fundraiser Kicks Off in February
Details about the next Coleman Band fundraiser have just been announced:
The fundraiser kicks off Feb. 22 and continues until the March 5 drawing.
Fundraiser tickets are available for $8 each, or 3 for $20.
Five major prizes will be given away:
1.A round-trip ticket to fly anywhere in the continental US on Air Tran Airways
2.A 3-day, 2-night spa getaway weekend at the Tahitian Inn Spa
3.Dinner for a year, with gift certificates to 12 great area restaurants
4.$100 in cash
5.$50 in cash
To get your fundraiser tickets, see any band student, or Mr. Dunn.

A meeting specifically for parents of sixth-grade band students will be held this Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 6:30 in the band room.

Summer Music Camps at USF
We've recently received word of several summer music camps being offered by USF's School of Music. Please see below for more information:
The School of Music is offering a Double Reed Camp for all oboe, English horn and bassoon players aged 13 and older from June 8 - 12. The camp is designed for improving performance and reed making skills. All students will have opportunities to play in ensembles and participate in performance classes and reed making classes. For more information, visit the School of Music Web site.
The School of Music is also offering Band Camp (formerly The USF Chamber Music Camp) for all woodwind, brass and percussionists aged 14 and older from June 22 - 26. The camp will provide an opportunity for young musicians to collaborate in both a band camp setting and a chamber music setting while under the tutelage of USF's resident artist faculty.
