Important Note From Mr. Dunn: Moving On

(from Mr. Dunn):

Dear Coleman Band Parents,

It has been an amazing three years as band director at Coleman. The growth and talent of the band has been more than I could ever imagine. The culture of music at Coleman has fostered an environment for developing a lifelong love of music which is the main goal for every music educator.

It is with bittersweet feelings that I am leaving Coleman for Bell, Florida. My wife has finished her family medicine residency in Clearwater and has been offered a job in her home town clinic. We have been given a free house on ten acres and her work is going to pay for all of her medical school loans. We are also moving to be closer to family which will help us take care of our new daughter Abigail Grace Dunn. Abigail was born on May 29, 2010 at 2:51am and is already as sweet as her mother.

As far as a new band director, Mr. Hoskinson will begin interviewing teachers in late June and should hire a replacement by early July. There are already several great teachers interested and I am sure there will be even more when it is officially announced. Coleman is one of the best schools to work at within the entire state and you are going to get a great teacher to take what I have built to the next level.

Lastly, I want to thank you for all of the help with developing the great band program at Coleman and more importantly thank you for caring and working so hard for your kids. You have been a great influence on my concept of family and how parents should encourage their children’s education. Thank you all for the kind words and gifts you have shared with me over the past couple of years. I appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity. It has really been encouraging to me. I wish you all the best in your future and your children’s future successes in life.

I hope to see everyone at the spring picnic on Saturday!!!!!!
Sincerely,
Christopher Dunn
